Each year, the Club awards college and vocational scholarships to deserving Club members. In the spring of 2024, BGCG’s Scholarship Committee reviewed applications from 58 Club members, then met with each applicant to learn about the individuals’ dedication to higher education, involvement with the Club, and future aspirations.
For the group of 58 high school seniors and college students, their good grades, commitment to character development, volunteerism, and community leadership has led to a combined reward of $430,000 in scholarship funds made possible through our BGCG Scholarship endowment.
Through a dynamic partnership with Strategic Value Partners, 20 BGCG members have received special awards through the SVP Scholars Program. This initiative not only provides crucial financial support through college scholarships but also offers summer internships and mentorship opportunities.
Three Club alumni received the prestigious Torch Award, which is given to rising college seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA who represent the Club’s values: Lorena Formento, Northeastern University; Cordelia Papen, University of Connecticut; and Chloe Smith, Loyola University Maryland.
Special awards were given to Fordham University senior, Serena Fakhoury, who received the Adalbert von Gontard Scholarship, and to Starla Tejada, a senior at Pace University, who received the Rebecca S. Breed Scholarship. Both scholarships are named in honor of two founders of the Club’s scholarship program who left a bequest for this purpose.
