Building Great Futures Campaign

Building Great Futures – A Campaign for the Youth of Greenwich is a transformational campaign that will make significant investments in young people. With community support, we can provide a chance for all youth to improve their academic achievement, develop socially in a safe and nurturing environment, and ultimately fulfill their potential. For more than 100 years, Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich has been a “home away from home” for our community’s youth.

When our youth rise, we all rise.

A Space to Match Our Spirit

Founded in 1910 and built in the 1930s, BGCG’s Clubhouse has served thousands of young people in the course of its history. Modernizing the Clubhouse marks our first major renovation project in nearly 20 years.

The 10,000-square-foot expasion and expansion of the Clubhouse includes:

  • Building a new gym that features a regulation-size court for basketball, volleyball and other activities.
  • Doubling academic and STEM instructional space.
  • Enhancing the building’s entry, including an elongated drop-off and pick-up area, with a secure vestibule and increased security features throughout the facility.
  • Installing new turf, secure fencing, and amphitheater-style seating in the field.
  • Creating a lobby Welcome Center that features a seating area for parents.
  • Increasing and upgrading space for the Teen Center to include break out rooms for studying and tutoring as well as a College & Workforce Readiness Center to ensure post-high school success.
  • Updating and converting the old gym for dance/fitness and theater space.
  • Making additional upgrades to the Club’s infrastructure, such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and information technology systems.

Giving Socities

Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich is incredibly grateful to every donor. Through the collective generosity of our community and friends, we can support today's Club kids as they explore enriching programs and have a safe and caring after-school experience.

Ways of Giving

Gifts of Cash
Gifts of cash are the easiest and most direct way to give to BGCG and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. The gifts can be fulfilled over a multi-year period (up to five years) following a payment schedule determined by the donor. Gifts of cash can be made online, wired, by sending a check, or by contacting Emily Wakeling.

Gifts of Securities
Marketable securities can be an attractive asset to contribute to BGCG. The donor who gives appreciated stock will usually avoid the capital gains tax on the stock’s appreciation and will receive a charitable deduction based on the market value on the date the stock is received by BGCG. Appreciated gifts of stock must be held for more than 12 months to qualify for long-term capital gains.

IRA Charitable Roll Over
Individuals 72½ years old or older with an IRA account can take advantage of a simple way to benefit the Club and receive tax benefits in return. Donors can give up to $100,000/year from their IRA directly without having to pay income taxes on the distribution.

Named Endowment Gifts
By creating an endowment, donors provide a gift in perpetuity that grows over time. Endowments can provide a naming opportunity. They create a legacy while addressing vital BGCG needs such as hospital growth and new equipment.

Planned Giving
By including BGCG in their estate plans, donors may create a legacy that will ensure BGCG’S place as a leader in creating great futures for generations to come. Some examples of planned giving instruments include:

-Bequests
- Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), IRAs, and retirement plans
- Life insurance policies
- Commercial annuities

One should consult one’s financial planner to determine the best course of action when considering making a planned gift.

Matching Gifts
Many companies offer a matching gift program for their employees and retirees who make charitable contributions to BGCG.  Some gifts can be doubled or even tripled. A donor should check with one’s Human Resources Department to inquire about its matching gift policy.

Crypto Gifts
The IRS classifies cryptocurrency as property for tax purposes which means it is typically the most tax-efficient way to support your favorite cause. When donating crypto, You receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of the crypto, and you avoid the capital gains tax you would have incurred if you had sold the crypto and then made a donation.

Multi-Year Pledge
Please contact Emily Wakeling at 203-253-0384 if you would like to make a multi-year campaign pledge.

With your committed support, The Future Starts Now.
