Studio Painting - Grades 5 & Up

Grades 5 & Up | Wednesday, 5:45-6:45pm l Instructor: Michael Manning | Location: Art Room Limited to 16 participants

This class will focus on varying approaches to drawing. Students will work toward an understanding of perspective, contour, shading, line variety and expression as they investigate the underlying idea of mark making and what constitutes a drawing. The session will start with a handcrafted sketchbook the students design and make. We will look for ways to introduce drawing and sketching as an every day event leading to confidence and new level of mastery with this medium. Starting with traditional artists and their approach to drawing, students will look at contemporary artists and new approaches to drawing and making art. We will also take advantage of iPad and Chromebook applications to merge digital and traditional methods of drawing on small and large scale mural drawing projects.
