Young Marinerssailathon

Through the Young Mariner’s Foundation, the Club is able to offer a truly unique experience to our members. Children learn skills associated with sailing such as swimming, navigation, first aid and appreciation of the Long Island Sound as well as piloting a sailboat. After they successfully complete this instruction, they earn CT Safe Boating certificates.

Children meet in a classroom setting and the swimming pool at the Boys & Girls Club. In the summer, with the help of local yacht clubs, the children are able to go out in the sailboats in groups where they share responsibilities, learning about teamwork and leadership. By the end of the summer they are able to sail solo.
